Directions
The most important thing to getting a great train photo is knowing the train schedule. Visit the Steamtown website at http://www.nps.gov/stea/planyourvisit/events.htm to obtain the dates of train excursion. The second most important thing is being in the right place at the right time. The provided maps and GPS coordinates will get you to the spot where this photo was taken. For Google Map directions select the green "view map" icon and the select "Get Directions." Now, the timing of the train is the last part of the equation. Allow for 25-35 minutes after departure from Scranton for the train to reach this location. Upon return, allow for 25-45 minutes prior to the return time to Scranton. Example: the train excursion to Moscow and Return (see times below) - the train should pass by this location around 11:30 and upon returning to Scranton around 12:30. The schedule below is the usual departure time and return times. Note: Sometimes the train may encouter delays so be ready and on the lookout. The trains come around the bend faster then you think! If you are in doubt you can call the ticket office to see if the train left the yard - (570) 340-5204 daily, 9:30 am - 4 pm. Photo - Nikon D3X Lens Nikon 24-70
